Villu Jaanisoo's new public sculpture unveiled on Helsinki Day

HAM — Helsinki Art Museum has commissioned a public sculpture from Villu Jaanisoo.
The sculpture Lokki (Seagull) is unveiled on Helsinki Day, 12.6.2018, by the city's Mayor Jan Vapaavuori. The fiberglass figure stands over six meters tall, and greets Ham — Helsinki Art Museum's guests on the ledge over the museum's main entrance. The portait of a tenacious and adaptable bird is a tribute to Helsinki's maritime location.
Jaanisoo's sculpture inaugurates a series of changing works over the entrance to the Tennis Palace, the work will remain in place for the time being, and may eventually be transferred to another location in Helsinki.
