Heli Rekula's solo exhibition As the Crow Flies is shown at EMMA - Espoo Museum of Modern Art between 4 October – 17 December, 2017.

The exhibition project is based on Rekula’s exploration along the historical postal service route that ran from Bergen in Norway to St. Petersburg in Russia. The installation is based on images and archive material describing the links between personal histories and the route.

Heli Rekula (b. 1963) is one of the key figures in photographic and video art in Finland, known for both her staged and landscape photographs. The award-winning artist worked as a professor of photography in Bergen in 2009-2015 and is currently working as a senior university lecturer at Aalto University in Helsinki. She prepares a doctoral degree in visual arts at the University of the Arts' Academy of Fine Arts. Her latest solo exhibition in Helsinki Contemporary was In Hemingway’s Garden in 2013.
