Sturm by Aki Rissanen: showtime on the hour at 6, 7 and 8 PM.

The Night of the Arts on Thursday, 25 August brings jazz musician Aki Rissanen and his solo project Sturm to Helsinki Contemporary. Rissanen’s performance is an unconventional combination of noise, ambient, minimalism, maximalism, avant-garde, jazz and improvisation with both electric and acoustic instruments. Inspired by the exhibition Guilty Pleasure, Rissanen paints visual music that communicates with the artworks on display.

Pianist Aki Rissanen (b. 1980) has been quickly rising among the few top names of the instrument in Finnish Jazz. Although originally classically trained, he has always had a heart for improvised music. Read more about the artist at akirissanen.com.

Among the performance, dig into a selection of exciting, beautiful contemporary art books, that can be purchased for affordable prices.

Welcome!
