Join us on Saturday March 1st at 14-15 for a discussion between artist Aki Turunen and author Anna-Kaari Hakkarainen at Helsinki Contemporary.

At the event, Turunen and Hakkarainen will discuss the themes of Aki Turunen's exhibition Tectonic Kiss which is currently on view at the gallery.

The event is free of charge. The discussion will take place in Finnish. Questions from the audience are welcomed at the end of the discussion.

Aki Turunen is an artist whose paintings are based on a combination of subconscious imagery and a profound knowledge of art history. Turunen's interest in tradition makes the artist position himself firmly in the art historical continuum, both through his choice of materials and his subjects. Tectonic Kiss is Turunen's third exhibition at Helsinki Contemporary.

Anna-Kaari Hakkarainen is a writer. She holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Art and Design, where she studied visual culture studies, and has worked eg. as editor-in-chief of Muoto magazine. Hakkarainen has published five novels, most recently Marraseliö in 2024.
