Ville Andersson, The Wave (2015)

Diesel Art Gallery has invited Ville Andersson for a solo exhibition to be held in the gallery, near the famous Shibuya crossing in Tokyo, Japan. Diesel Art Gallery is an invitation-based gallery which organises four solo exhibitions annually by foreign artists representing different media. The exhibition jury includes e.g. Nicola Formichetti, who is widely known as the Artistic Director of the Italian fashion label Diesel, and for being a frequent collaborator with singer-songwriter and performance artist Lady Gaga. Andersson's exhibition has been curated by +81 Agency, known for their magazine of the same name. The gallery has previously presented exhibitions by film director and producer Spike Jonze, Kinfolk Magazine and Vice Magazine.

Consisting of nearly 30 pieces, the exhibition An Introduction showcases Andersson's drawings, paintings and photography. The exhibition displays both the artist's earlier as well as most recent works.

"Diesel has given me a complete freedom to create a broad and diverse scheme in the gallery. I'm really excited about the opportunity to present my art to the Japanese audience", Andersson says.

The exhibition is open 26.2.–20.5.2016.
