Sanna Kannisto's solo show "Studium Naturae" is on view at K. H. Renlund Museum in Kokkola, Finland, from September 12 to November 23, 2025.
The works in the exhibition combine traditions of nature photography, scientific research, and poetic visual expression. In Sanna Kannisto's photographs, birds are depicted as individuals—eye contact, details, postures, and gestures make each photograph a unique portrait. At the same time, the works challenge us to consider the relationship between the natural and the artificial, the staged and controlled and the untamed.
