Roland Persson is nominated for the Ars Fennica 2025 Prize. The exhibition of the 2025 Ars Fennica nominees will open at the HAM Helsinki Art Museum in autumn 2025.

Finland's most prestigious art prize Ars Fennica, 50 000 euros, is awarded in recognition of high quality and distinctive artistic work. The recipient is selected by an international art expert invited by the prize jury. In 2025, the selection will be made by Mami Kataoka, director of Mori Art Museum and the National Center for Art Research in Tokyo, Japan.

Roland Persson (b. 1963) is known for his painterly, surrealist silicone sculptures, that he casts in molds made from real objects. His works combine three-dimensional hyper-realism with profound psychological reflection and magical realism. The relation between humans and nature is a central theme in his works.

Roland Persson lives and works in Stockholm. His works have been exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Russia and Asia, and his works are included in major museum collections in the Nordic region. His works have been widely exhibited in Finland during the past year. Persson’s first solo museum show in Finland “Twisted Realities” opened in autumn 2023 at the Ostrobothnian museum in Vaasa. In 2024, his works have been on view at major Finnish museums such as HAM Helsinki Art Museum and Amos Rex, as well as the Porvoo Triennial.
