Roland Persson: Blind Spot is on view in Katrineholms konsthall in Katrineholm, Sweden from February 1 until March 22, 2025. The exhibition comprises of Roland Persson’s silicone sculptures and drawings.
“The point on the retina where the optic nerve exits is called the papilla, but it is called the blind spot because the area lacks photoreceptors. This means that things that are there are sometimes not perceived by the eye, the image we see is missing some elements and merges into an alternative reality. A gap in the real or an opportunity for the imagination to work.”
“Several of Roland Persson's artworks are in a borderland between the real and the impossible, constructed but still close to the natural. Realistic in a way that makes us unsure of what we see. The exhibition Blind Spot presents several works by Roland Persson that take us to dreamy places, sometimes beautiful but also frightening and twisted. Memories, dreams and inner images that together create a space with silicone sculptures and drawings like investigations of nature and the subconscious.”, writes the curator of the exhibition Gustav Persson.
