Kati Immonen's extensive solo exhibition Korpi vastaan puutarha is on view at Jyväskylä Art Museum June 6 – September 5.

The exhibition presents Immonen's works from 2016-2021. For years, the artist’s main focus has been the multidimensional relationship between human and nature. In her most recent series of paintings, Immonen has depicted, among other things, overgrown flower baskets and gardens overrun by forests – attempts to control nature familiar to every gardener. In the miniature worlds of the paintings, plants begin to live their own lives, greenery burgeons and takes up space. The artist wonders how systematic plantings and unruly flora merge into each other, and whether they will learn to coexist.
