Hans Rosenström’s sound installation A House Divided is exhibited at Walls Have Ears: Emotional Resonance, a sound art festival taking place in Tallinn’s ARS Art Factory between February 14 and 28, 2025.
Rosenström’s A House Divided is a sound installation that explores the mechanisms of words and their delivery. The work was written in dialogue with the professional hypnotherapist Charles Montagu. It investigates the quality of the voice as a transcending tool: each time we speak we are not just making a sound for others to hear, but we simultaneously also invade another person's body. A House Divided was first exhibited at the inaugural edition of the Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art, RIBOCA.
The theme of the 2025 edition of the Walls Have Ears festival is "Emotional Resonance", putting into focus the intersection of sound art and psychological well-being. During the festival, Tallinn’s ARS Art Factory is transformed into a multidimensional space where art exists not only as an auditory experience, but also resonates through the physical, emotional and cognitive realms of the audience.
