Hannaleena Heiska is included in the group exhibition “Apocalypse: From Last Judgement to Climate Threat” at Gothenburg Art Museum. The exhibition is on view from February 22, 2025, through 18 January, 2026.
Throughout history, artists have been fascinated by catastrophes, from biblical accounts of the Last Judgement to the present era’s anxiety over war, climate change and AI. The exhibition invites the visitor to experience five centuries of dramatic doom’s day art.
In “Apocalypse”, remarkable artworks from the museum’s collection meet contemporary art and significant loans from European museums. The sprawling survey showcases works by Romantic artists and Symbolist as well as international stars of modern art such as Georg Baselitz and Anselm Kiefer. Alongside Hannaleena Heiska, contemporary artists like Anna von Hausswolff, IC-98 and Cajsa von Zeipel are represented with audio works, paintings, videos and sculptures.
