Camilla Vuorenmaa’s “All I Want,” commissioned by the Finnish State Art Commission, is a series of works installed in the Lagmansgården reform school in Pietarsaari, Finland. “All I Want” is the first public artwork by Camilla Vuorenmaa.

In a technique typical of the artist, images are executed on multi-part wooden panels by etching and painting. “All I Want” consists of six separate parts, which function both as separate works and as a coherent whole. Hidden within the abstract works are figurative elements such as a paper bird: a messenger and symbol of freedom.

Vivid colours and a sense of movement suggestive of basketball and colourful sportswear are present in all of the works. "I went to photograph basketball players and tried to capture the dynamics of the sport and the importance of teamwork. The game is very energetic. Basketball has long been a sport favoured by the young and the clothes worn by basketball players inspire youth culture," Vuorenmaa tells.

Vuorenmaa also visited the site of the works several times during its construction phase and met with Lagmansgården employees and young people. She also met with the artists and the young people who took part in the production. Vuorenmaa was assisted by carpenter Markku Lyytinen and artist Lea Lintula.

The State Artworks Commission acquires works for properties built by the Senate Properties and the University of Finland Properties. VTTK is established by the Ministry of Education and Culture and is attached to the Finnish National Gallery.
