Liliane Lijn
Liliane Lijn
The kinetic sculptures, video, performance and collage works of Liliane Lijn (b. 1939, New York City) explore language, western philosophy and feminine mythology. Lijn is a pioneer in kinetic art, and has explored light and text in her practice since the 1960’s. Lijn describes her work as a constant dialogue of opposites, and she is especially known for the cone shaped Koan sculpture series, that are also shown in Helsinki Contemporary’s exhibition. Her works are included in significant international collections such as The British Museum; Fonds national d'art contemporain, Paris; Henry Moore Foundation, Leeds; Bern Art Museum; Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris; MOMA New York; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney; Tate Gallery; and Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
