Harvey Opgenorth

Harvey Opgenorth (b. 1977, Milwaukee) lives and works in Los Angeles, California. His multi-disciplinary practice ranges from painting to sculpture, photography and mixed-media to installation and performance. In his art Opgenorth is propelled by the desire to challenge and illuminate the complex action of perception. Using tactics such as camouflage, repetition and realignment, magic, smokescreens, as well as visual puns and social games, his work questions the contexts of art and investigates how these can reveal and/or obscure the meaning of the artworks themselves. Opgenorth has participated in exhibitions in the US, Europe and Scandinavia.
